Terms of Service

Last updated: 3 July 2026

These terms describe the agreement between you and BD Media AB, the company that operates The Living Vine. We have tried to write them in plain language a careful reader can actually follow. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain.

1. Who we are

The Living Vine is operated by BD Media AB, a company registered in Sweden. When these terms say “we”, “us” or “our”, we mean BD Media AB. When they say “you”, we mean the person using the service.

2. What The Living Vine is

The Living Vine sends you a personal Christian prayer, written for you by name, by email. Membership is a recurring subscription: you receive a new bespoke prayer each quarter — prepared and reviewed before it is sent, and kept in your private library — along with a place in the members-only community wall and the Manna devotion circle. Members may also request a custom prayer from their account.

We are not a church. We are not a substitute for a pastor, priest, spiritual director, counsellor, or any kind of medical professional.

3. Who may use the service

You may use The Living Vine if you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract where you live. The service is primarily aimed at American adults. If you are not 18, please do not sign up.

4. Your account and sign-in

You create an account during the intake flow. You can sign in two ways: with your email and a password you set, or with “Continue with Google”. If you forget your password you can reset it from the sign-in page. You are responsible for keeping your password, your email, and your device secure, and for anything done through your account.

We can suspend or close an account if it is being used to abuse our service, our team, or other members. We will tell you why if we do.

5. What you pay

Membership is $19.99 every 3 months, charged through PayPal. It is a recurring subscription that renews automatically each quarter until you cancel.

The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. From time to time we may offer a reduced launch or promotional price to new members — if you join at one, that price is also the price your membership renews at. Payments are processed by PayPal. You complete checkout on PayPal’s own site, and we never see your card or bank details. Sales tax or VAT may be added at checkout where required by law.

6. How renewal works

Your membership renews automatically every 3 months at $19.99, through PayPal, until you cancel. Each renewal keeps your membership active and brings a new personal prayer for the season. PayPal emails you a receipt for each charge.

7. Cancellation

You may cancel any time — in one click from your account, or by writing to us. After you cancel you will not be charged again, and your access continues to the end of the quarter you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate or refund the unused part of a quarter (see Refunds below). If you want your account or data removed, write to us and we will take care of it.

8. Refunds

Our refund terms live in a separate, plain-language Refund Policy. The short version: if something is wrong, write to us and we will fix it. We default to a refund rather than a fight.

9. The community wall and member conduct

Members can post prayer intentions and encouragement to a members-only community wall, and respond to others. You choose whether to post under your first name or anonymously. Please keep it kind: no harassment, hate, spam, advertising, explicit content, or sharing of other people’s private details. We may remove any post, and suspend the account behind it, at our discretion — especially anything that endangers or demeans another member. Posts are visible to other signed-in members, so treat the wall as semi-public and don’t share anything there you need kept private.

10. Manna

Manna is an in-app devotional token. It has no cash value, is not money or credit, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be transferred between accounts except through features we provide. You can earn Manna through devotional activity (such as daily check-ins, reading, and taking part in the community) or add it through an optional purchase, and spend it on in-app items such as a dashboard candle or acts of remembrance. Purchased Manna is a digital item delivered immediately and is non-refundable once added, except where the law requires otherwise. We may adjust earn rates, prices, catalogue items, and balances to keep the system fair or to correct errors. If your account closes, any Manna balance is forfeited.

11. The Confessional and reflections

The Confessional lets you write a private reflection and receive a gentle, Scripture-rooted word of comfort drafted with AI. If you save a reflection, it is stored in your private libraryso you can return to it; you can delete it at any time. The Confessional is a devotional aid — it is not the sacrament of confession, not counseling, and not a substitute for a pastor or professional. If what you write suggests you are in danger, it is handled under the Crisis section below rather than stored silently.

12. Gifting a prayer

Members can have a prayer written for someone they love and sent to that person by email. If you use this feature, you confirm you have a good-faith reason to contact that person and that the email address is one you are entitled to use. We send a single gift message (and a page to view it); we do not add the recipient to any marketing list. Please don’t use gifting to send unwanted or repeated messages.

13. Inviting friends and affiliates

You may receive a personal invite link to share with friends; if someone joins through it, you may both receive Manna as described in the app. Separately, we run an affiliate/promoter program for approved partners who promote The Living Vine for a cash commission. Affiliate participation is by approval only and is governed by the separate arrangement we agree with each partner; commissions are subject to a holding period and may be reversed if the underlying payment is refunded or reversed. Promoting the service through spam, misleading claims, or unauthorized advertising is grounds for removal and forfeiture of unpaid commissions.

14. How prayers are written (AI disclosure)

We are open about this: prayers are drafted with the help of large language model technology (currently Anthropic’s Claude models), guided by a strict written brief and a fixed set of ethical rules. Every Scripture quoted is checked. We never invent verses, never promise that any particular outcome will happen, and never write words as if they came from God.

Prayers are spiritual companionship, not prophecy, not therapy, and not medical, legal, or financial advice. Please treat them as such.

15. Crisis disclaimer

The Living Vine is not a crisis service. If you are in danger, in immediate emotional distress, or thinking of harming yourself, please reach out to someone who can be present with you in real time. In the United States you can call or text 988for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, free and confidential, 24 hours a day. If you are in immediate physical danger, call 911.

16. Acceptable use

Please do not use The Living Vine to:

  • Harass our team or other members
  • Submit content on behalf of someone else without their consent
  • Attempt to break, scrape, or overload the service
  • Use the service for anything illegal

17. Your content and our content

Anything you write into the service (intake answers, names, what is on your heart, custom requests, reflections, and community posts) remains yours. You grant us a limited licence to use it for the purpose of writing prayers for you, operating the features you use, and — for anything you post to the community wall — showing it to other signed-in members. The prayers we write for you are yours to keep, print, and share with family.

The brand name “The Living Vine”, our logo, our written site copy, and the underlying software are ours and may not be copied or reused without permission.

18. What we don’t promise

We do not promise that any particular prayer will produce any particular outcome. We do not promise that the service will always be available without interruption. We do our best, but software and email systems sometimes fail. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind beyond those that cannot be excluded.

19. Limit on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for anything arising out of the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or in the United States, you have legal rights that these terms do not take away.

20. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer, you also retain the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live. We will try to resolve any dispute with you informally first; please write to us before anything else.

21. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will email the address we have on file and update the date at the top of this page. If a change is something you cannot accept, write to us and we will make it right.

22. Contact
